Next Thursday Peter Enns will be speaking at Nyack College/ATS (93 Worth Street, New York, NY [10th Floor Auditorium]) from 6:00-8:00pm. Enns’ blog can be seen here A Time to Tear Down, A Time to Build Up. He will be speaking on Paul’s Use of Scripture, specifically in regards to Adam. His most well-known book is probably Inspiration and Incarnation: Evangelicals and the Problem of the Old Testament (Baker Academic, 2005).
Prof. Enns received his doctorate under James Kugel at Harvard University in 1994. His dissertation Exodus Retold: Ancient Exegesis of the Departure from Egypt in Wis 10:15-21 and 19:1-9 was published as a Harvard Semitic Monograph (Scholar’s Press) in 1997. I wrote a brief review of this volume for a course at NYU and it is a valuable resource for understanding both the intricacies of interpretation embedded in the apocryphal Wisdom of Solomon and the world of biblical exegesis that flourished during the Second Temple period.
Nyack’s faculty and students are looking forward to his presentation.
