Glo: Fascinating New Bible Program

I just noticed this on L. Ritmeyer’s blog of this new interactive Bible program named Glo, which is intended to shed light on the text of the Bible with high resolution images, timelines, geography, and differing forms of media. It includes 550+ virtual tours and 100+ expert videos.

According to the GLO website, the program can be searched through five main lenses:

  • You can also use these 5 lenses to filter content. Say you want to see what Jesus had to say on the subject of redemption during the Passion Week in Jerusalem. What would be an otherwise impossible search can be done quickly, visually and intuitively with Glo. Each lens is integrated so when you’re reading, you can also explore without losing your place. Once you see the full picture, your understanding grows.”
  • The numbers according to the website include 2,382 high res photos, 7,500 Encyclopedia Articles, 463 Virtual Tours, 689 Pieces of Artwork, 102 Expert Videos, 36 Animations, 147 Maps. The site is Christian based, and developed by the creators of Illumina, but it seems like it will appeal to all students who are interested in merging realia with texts.

We will inform you as updates are posted.
